The Team
Pearson Rundell is a partner-led firm. Every engagement is led directly by one of our principals.
Our principals spent their careers inside some of the most respected mechanical and energy engineering firms in New York City before founding Pearson Rundell. They bring a depth of experience — across hospitals, universities, government facilities, laboratories, and large commercial buildings — that is uncommon in a boutique practice. The firm exists because our clients deserve that level of experience on their projects directly.

Co-Principal
Andre Pearson brings over two decades of mechanical engineering experience across consulting, facilities management, and engineering leadership roles in the New York City metro area. His career spans the full project lifecycle — from design and construction administration to large-scale facilities operations and strategic capital planning.
Andre began his engineering career at Joseph R. Loring & Associates, a long-established New York City MEP consulting firm, where he served as Assistant Group Leader in the Infrastructure Group and led engineering on multi-million dollar government projects for agencies including the New York City School Construction Authority (NYCSCA) and the Department of Citywide Administrative Services (DCAS).
He subsequently joined WM Group Engineers, PC, one of New York City's prominent mechanical engineering firms, as a Senior Associate. Over seven years, he managed preparation of design drawings, specifications, and cost estimates for a wide range of institutional and commercial building projects across the city.
At Smith Engineering, PLLC, Andre served as Principal and Director of Operations, where he led strategic planning, business development, and engineering delivery. He later held senior facilities management and engineering leadership positions overseeing complex building operations at a major university campus in New Jersey. Andre holds a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the New York Institute of Technology, where he graduated Summa Cum Laude.

Co-Principal
Principal Engineer
John Rundell is a licensed Professional Engineer with extensive experience in the design, commissioning, and optimization of mechanical systems for complex, energy-intensive buildings. His background spans central thermal and power systems, HVAC design, building automation, and energy distribution infrastructure across some of the most demanding facility types in the New York City region.
Over the course of his career, John has worked on systems ranging from campus chilled water and steam plants to hospital, laboratory, university, and pharmaceutical HVAC systems. His engineering approach is shaped by direct exposure to underperforming systems and a conviction that the most effective improvements often come from better design and more appropriate control strategies applied to existing infrastructure.
John has helped institutional and commercial clients access significant utility incentive funding through engineering-driven efficiency programs. He teaches building energy efficiency at The Cooper Union and serves on ASHRAE Technical Committee 1.4, Control Theory and Application.
Prior to founding Pearson Rundell, John held engineering roles at WM Group Engineers, PC and Smith Engineering, PLLC, two of New York City's established mechanical engineering consulting firms.
